Privacy policy

Worth the Watch? summarizes YouTube videos using captions available for the video. In OpenAI or Anthropic direct mode, the publisher does not receive or operate a central copy of your data.
Data the extension handles
- YouTube video ID, title, creator name, duration, and transcript.
- The API key, provider, model, and prompt settings you enter.
- Generated summaries, local cache entries, settings, and local usage estimates.
How data is used and shared
The selected AI provider receives the video title, creator name, transcript, and prompt only to generate the summary you requested. This is OpenAI in OpenAI direct mode, Anthropic in Anthropic direct mode, or the HTTPS backend URL you configure in backend mode.
The extension publisher does not sell data, use it for advertising, or permit humans to read it. Data is not transferred for unrelated purposes.
Storage and retention
API keys, settings, summaries, and usage totals are stored locally in your Chrome profile. Cached summaries are retained for the duration you choose and can be deleted with Clear summary cache. Removing the extension deletes its local extension storage. Your selected AI provider may retain request data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Security and choices
Requests use HTTPS. API keys are never included in webpages or sent to the extension publisher. You can disable the extension, clear cached summaries, remove API keys, or uninstall it. Disabling it prevents new provider requests.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
